Problems with Online Orientations
If you are taking a Distance Education class, you will want to complete an Online Orientation for each section that offers it. The Online Orientation consists of the information found in the 5 links under the DE Information and Course Information headings as shown below:

You will need to complete a Data Form for each Distance Education section that you are enrolled in.
There are 3 main reasons why you may be having problems accessing your Online Orientations.
- You are accessing more than one Online Orientation at a time and/or you have too many browser windows open. Please access only one Online Orientation at a time and close each pop-up window after reading/printing its contents before proceeding with the rest of the orientation to avoid confusion.
- You're Online Orientation is not yet available. If your Online Orientation is not yet available, please be patient. Check the Orientation date in your schedule or on the Courses and Orientations page. If on that date or after, it's still not available, do not panic. Simply check the following day and thereafter to see if the Orientation has been posted. You should complete the Online Orientation the weekend that it's due, but in the event that it is not available or that you were not able to get online, you may complete it past its due date if need be, but as close to possible to the start date of your course. While it is important to complete the Online Orientation before accessing your class, if it is not available by the first day of class, you will not be prevented from logging in to your course once your course begins. Simply log in to your course. From Blackboard's Mail tool, you can notify your instructor about his/her Online Orientation.
- You have a pop-up blocker that is interfering with your Online Orientation's pop-up windows. You need to disable it or configure it to allow pop-ups from hccs.edu. Click here for more information if you are having that problem.
