About Distance Education
Distance Education (DE) courses are equivalent to on-campus courses except that 85% or more of the course work is completed through an online learning management system, called Eagle Online.
Federal law requires college distance learning programs to obtain approval from individual U.S. states in order to provide online courses to students in that state. Due to this law, HCC is not able to accept Distance Education (fully online courses) students living in these states: Arkansas, District of Columbia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin, Wyoming. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
How to access online courses and mandatory orientations
Welcome Students. Remember, your online orientations are mandatory for each section. To access them, simply click on the links under course resources.
AskDECounseling & Advising
Complete the AskDE form if you have any registration or advising needs or need to leave a complaint that DE can assist with. Please know we are working hard and will respond to this form in the order in which it is received. Response time is 1-12 business hours. Thank you for your patience.
Advising & Registration Session
Every first-time college or transfer student with fewer than 12-semester credit hours who is enrolling in HCC credit courses is required to attend an Advising and Registration Session. Find registration information under Student Services.
Logging into Eagle Online
On the first day of class students can log-in to their course(s) by clicking the green "Go to Class Room" button on the DE Orientation page (one for each class) OR by going to EO2.hccs.edu.
Your Eagle Online 2 Username/password is the same as your Eagle ID, which is the User ID or W number that you were issued upon admission and the password you created for your HCC Email (issued upon enrollment through the Student System). Your Eagle ID is also used for logging into campus computers, Askonline tutoring, printing on campus, etc.
If you do not know your W number, you may look it up from the Student System Sign In page (see "Forgot My User ID").

You must go to the DE Orientation to find which system will be used for your course(s). Once there, click on the Go to Class Room button for each course the day the class begins. You might have classes on both servers. Do not assume that the course materials are in the same place or on the same system as the last semester.
Eagle Online 2 Log-in information
The log-in for this system is the same ID and password as your HCC Active Directory (AD) and HCC Student Email username/password. (Note: This username/password is also used to log-on to computers and printers at the HCC campuses and get online tutoring assistance).
If you have never used your HCC student email, you must claim your account here before using it. Select Student Claim Policy from the drop-down menu and then follow instructions.
You will be required to change the password for this account every 120 days. To do this, without IT Help Desk support, you will need to set up your challenge questions/responses. The responses to your challenge questions are stored securely. Once answered correctly, you will be able to reset your password on your own.
If you cannot claim your email or cannot reset your password, call the HCC IT Help Desk at (713) 718-8800, option 1, for AD / Email assistance.
